Artist’s Bio

Of Irish and Scottish descent, I was born in Ibadan, Nigeria and have lived and worked in England, Kenya and the Outer Hebrides. Currently working and living between Newark-on-Trent and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Having trained in oil painting, with an interest in the healing power of nature, I painted expressive land and seascapes in oils and mixed media with oil pastels.

In 2025 I started exploring intuitive art. It has been a revelation to me especially as I have no visual memory, aphantasia. I begin with a technique called decalcomania then let my subconscious create what it sees. Currently I am working small and in acrylics with occasional additions of mixed media(charcoal, pastel, oil pastel and/or oil paint). I am gradually moving up to a larger scale and enjoying more oil again.

After 32 years of working as a doctor I am thrilled to be able to now work full time on my art. I can see that some of my life experiences and emotions are revealing themselves to me through this technique.
